FINAL GIRL explores the slasher flicks of the '70s and '80s...and all the other horror movies I feel like talking about, too. This is life on the EDGE, so beware yon spoilers!

October is SHOCKtober!

And if I were a DJ, October would be ROCKtober! Yeeaaaaagh!

What I mean to say, is that October will set upon those of us in EST in about 5 hours. Because this is the first Halloween month for Final Girl, and because I tried to think of something rad to do but couldn't come up with anything on my own, I'll be joining Des over at Without Me You're Only You in the massive goal of watching a movie-a-day for the entire month. This idea came to me in a flash, a flash I tells ya, when I was reading about Rick Geerling's attempts to do the very same thing last year, over at Dark, But Shining.

I figure this town IS big enough for all of us, right?

I've been stocking up on cheap VHS movies and strategically shuffling my Netflix queue for days and days, and I think I've got a pretty good lineup of movies ahead. They're not necessarily my favorites- in fact, there's quite a few I've never seen before, or haven't seen in ages, so that's got me psyched. I've also got a couple of marathons planned to mix things up a little. I'll be doing a Friday the 13th marathon-all 11 of 'em in a day- after which you can check out Steven's musings on the series over at Corpse Eaters. There's also a Halloween marathon planned- all 9 of 'em. Am I crazy? Could be. But I'm doin' it all for you, Final Girl!

So who knows what state I'll be in when October is over- perhaps I'll never want to watch another movie again. Perhaps, after the marathons, my ass will fuse with my couch. Maybe my eyes will shrivel up and fall out, or perhaps I'll end my days sitting in a corner, knees to chin, rocking and muttering to myself about germs. We'll have to wait and see. Yay!

Lock your doors...bolt your windows...pull up your pants...it's time for----

SHOCKtober!!!

Looking forward to fun reviews from you, Stacie! Can't wait! I know I just picked up a slew of great horror DVD's from the dollar store yesterday (they have new crop in for Halloween!), and I'm stoked to watch 'em throughout the month! Tall glass root beer, a ramen noodle packet, and a cheapie dollar DVD horror flick...man, what else do you need in life?!

Happy Haunting!

My friends and I did a Living Dead Marathon when the new movie came out. We keep talking about planning a night to watch the first movie or two of Nightmare on Elm Street, Friday the 13th, and Halloween. I have one friend who's never seen any of these movies.

Hm. I think I'll send them email and see if they want to plan it for sometime this month.

Hey Final Girl!

It wasn't even my idea so we're both ripping of Rick.

Ah well, I look forward to reading your stuff.

Oh, Leprechaun. I didn't even think of that- and I've got the box set sittin' right over there. That shot towards the end of Leprechaun in Space is one of my all time favorites- where the giant, disembodied leprechaun hand floats by the spaceship window, and slowly, slowly flips everyone the bird. Classic.

Heh, Keith, I picked up a bunch of dollar flicks from Target last weekend! Great stuff, and even if it sucks, it's just a buck!

And Michelle, what a treat for your friend to get to see these movies for the first time. Wow!

You guys have just given me MORE ideas, you realize...?

Hi Stacie--wow, for a while there I thought Final Girl totally stalled, but it looks like you're back in high gear!
