Gotta love the American Werewolf in London as wacky sex comedy poster.
Also, it seems Croaked took a bit of influence from those Humanoids From the Deep, no? Of course, the execution is light years apart...
Hurlements = The Howling
Survivance = Just Before Dawn
Fridays = Awesome
Holy Naughton! Is thatwerewolf's head under the nurse's skirt??? Ha! I LOVE it!!!
ReplyDeleteNice picks this week, this is my favorite so far. The cheerleader camp poster is in my top 50 favorite posters and that 2nd American Werewolf poster has got style to burn. I also need to get around to watching PIN, its on fango's top 100 most underrated horrors.
ReplyDeleteFuga da New York!
I'm surprised they gave Kurt Russell such a low profile in the Japanese The Thing poster & made it so . . . um . . . dare I say it . . . vaginNO, NO, I've got it . . . made it SO Georgia O'Keefe!
ReplyDeleteFFFFEEEWWW!
Anyways, I can totally see the "raincoat crowd" going into a theater to see American Werewolf & then watching a scary movie, disheartened, with pockets of unused issues.
Cheerleader Camp = awesomeness!
I was always hypnotized by the Cheerleader Camp artwork when I was little. I think it was the bottom-cleavage. If I'd grown up to be straight I fear for the fetishes that poster may have instilled in me.
ReplyDeleteLove the Mucha-inspired Vamp one.
ReplyDeleteAnd the manga style on the "American Werewolf in London" one. Beats the chibi-Krueger one.
Hurlements sound like what you pop in your mouth after you throw up.
ReplyDeleteThat Escape From NY Poster is in the Escape From New York Pizza downtown in San Francisco. So much better than the actual pizza.
ReplyDeleteIs cheerleader camp any good? Always wanted to see it..
I read Survivance as Survivadance. That sounds like a lot more fun, imo.
ReplyDeleteSurvivadance could be the sequel to Murderrock.
ReplyDeleteWhat in the holy hell is with that first American Werewolf In London poster?!?!
ReplyDeleteI like the Humanoids From The Deep and Just Before Dawn posters.
Ok so that first American Werewolf in London poster has just become my favorite movie poster Ever!
ReplyDeleteI have the same question as Micah, is Cheerleader Camp worth a watch? I've never seen.
Awesome collection, I have several of these as rotating screensavers!

Wait, where did my comment go?! Now I've forgotten what I said. I know I forgot to mention that "Fuga da New York" is what Italian guys in Baltimore say when the Yankees are in town. (Thanks, I'll be here all week. Try the veal. Don't forget to tip your Ponder.)
ReplyDeleteOh yeah! I originally said something like "If Satan's Skin and La vampire nue aren't the perfect '70s Euro-nekkid-horror titles, I don't know what are."
Also, Stacie = Awesome.
I love Pin! Canadian classic.
ReplyDeleteIs it just me, or does that second Werewolf poster actually look like a cat...?
ReplyDeleteWow. This might be my fave AWESOME POSTER FRIDAY yet!
ReplyDeleteGreat finds, Stacie.
I don't know what *Pin* is, but MAN, am I gonna go look for that mutha after I post this. Awesome.
*The Horror of Dracula* one is beautiful, but I gotta say that the Pumpkinhead one is my #1 of the lot. Never seen that one before. GREAT!
This is an awful lot of awesomeness for just one Friday.
ReplyDeleteMy faves are Pumpkinhead (I have a tender spot for him), Satan's Skin, La Vampire Nue, and Monster.
The Cheerleader Camp poster reminds me of a nightmare I had as a pre-teen about Scott Baio. The only time I ever asked my parents if I could sleep out the rest of the night in their room.
Oh wow, I've actually SEEN Cheerleader Camp... it's a riot. Not GOOD, but... the final reveal...
ReplyDeleteOMG I want through this phase where I was totally obsessed with Pin. Gotta find me a copy of that.
ReplyDeleteThat American Werewolf poster is so crazy.
ReplyDeleteAnd I want that Escape From New York poster.
It seems really odd that you'd post the Cheeleader Camp poster when fashion magazines are slowly started to incorporate the almighty under-boob back into their pages. Coincidence? Or are you pro-underboob?
ReplyDeletecheerleader camp -- far better poster than movie.
ReplyDeletepin -- my friends and i always knew this as pin: a plastic nightmare. which, in my estimation, increases the coolness of the title by about 104%.
Just for the record, Survivance is quite the shit, the Asian poster under Monster reminds me of something out of MAD Magazine, and Cheerleader Camp could have totally won first place as one of R.L. Stein's Goosebumps cover arts.
