Ack! The stuff of nightmares. Have you see Inland Empire, Stacie? There's a lot of tedium to wade through for certain but there are images and moments of real terror within. Lynch can craft a scare like nobody's business and doesn't get enough attention for that fact.
when i first saw this in the theater i nearly crapped myself. probably the last time i was really frightened in a movie.
as for inland empire. there's some creepiness (i.e. - the scene where the bunny creature is sitting at the head of the table in the darkly lit room adjoining the sitcom room), but nothing like this scene.
