FINAL GIRL explores the slasher flicks of the '70s and '80s...and all the other horror movies I feel like talking about, too. This is life on the EDGE, so beware yon spoilers!

a small tribute to...
...that 80s horror trend where chicks wore sports jerseys as pajamas.

The best thing about those is how they're all totally generic. The top one sort of resembles the Cowboys' or Colts' jerseys and the bottom one is sort of in the neighborhood of the old international-orange Bucs jerseys, but in general, they look like Dollar Store Fashion Week...
Great tribute. I tried wearing Hockey Jersey's to bed, you know just in case they were making a movie about my life, and I found that those things are way too hot and very scratchy.
There were also a bunch of really famous football players who wore 88 in the '70s, like the Cowboys' Drew Pearson, the Steelers' Lynn Swann, and the Colts' John Mackey. Probably, though, it was cheaper to buy one lot of 22,000 8s than 11,000 of two different numbers...
I also was a wearer. But more or less, in the 80s, it could just as well have been a carebears oversized tee/dress. Or something with a dozen roses on it or some shit. That trend really went under the radar in the scope of the whole 80s fashion revival.
Sleepaway Camp! Although ladies were mostly topless in that series, I believe there were a few jersey-clad females. I think it's slightly more creepy than sexy, but I understand the appeal

In a related story, Stacie sleeps in these:

Who is Carl Anne?
I was supposed to stop sleeping in those? Damn guess that makes me retro.
The 80s were serious business. Even in your sleep you ran the chance of being called into the big game. They dressed accordingly.
Oh nostalgic tears
Football jersey clad ladies
Dire circumstances
I should probably do a companion post- more guys than girls wore these generic shirts back in the day.
For some reason the number 88 seemed to be popular- was that code for something I'm not hip enough to know about?

88 is sometimes used as code for 'Heil Hitler', but there are presumably alternate explanations.

Only you would even NOTICE that sorta-trend. Hence the love.
it's a HOT look
God they were hot.

is it just me or is that look totally hot?
They had to wear 88, because 69 would have gotten them killed -- well, killed more quickly.

It's innocent and kinda sexy in that "I'm not trying to look sexy, but I'm sexy even then" kind of way.
