I started writing...well, rants, or something, I guess, about how everyone is always cynical and cranky and no one seems to actually enjoy movies much anymore, even though more people than ever are making their voices heard and how that sucks and of course I realize that I myself have cranked out more times than you could count on, like, thirty hands but today my throat hurts and I'm suffering from a case of toomuchinternetitis, which means I should go smell some flowers or something and come back later when the negativity doesn't seem so tiresome.
In other words, maybe it's time for another one of these.
For now, though, I'm just going to draw your attention to a movie I'm really looking forward to: Walking Distance.
I can't seem to find any embeddable trailers, but check them out at other websites...I know, clicking sucks, but they're worth it:
Walking Distance: Black
Walking Distance: Red
I'm terribly intrigued. I have no idea what's going on, but I want to find out. Wow, mission accomplished, trailers! Adrienne King (Adrienne King!)! Reggie Bannister! Debbie Rochon! Shannon Lark! And did I mention Adrienne King? Those of you attending Fangoria's Weekend of Horrors in Los Angeles should catch the Walking Distance panel on Friday, April 17th. Otherwise, add 'em on MySpace for updates, if you're into that.
Yay, anticipation. I feel better already. Still, smelling flowers seems like a good idea.
Oh, and incidentally, my nightmares are decidedly mint chocolate chip.

I agree with you, ma... err, girl!
I don't get why so many people bitch, bitch, BITCH about every thing. It does seem like nobody enjoys things anymore. But then, that is too cynical.
There are bloggers who enjoy the movies they watch. They are out there. One who is very fair in his reviews and usually likes the stuff worth liking is The Bone Breaker at Mad Ravings of an Entertainment Junkie. He's a good egg.

Say, there's Aaron Pierce from tv's 24! Looks interesting...
Sorry to hear about your throat - d'ya wanna know what got me through the last two weeks of germy grossness? Three words: Icy. Spicy. Leoncie. Thanks for writing that lifesaving prescription.
Enjoyed a bunch of movies this weekend, including two Norwegian horror films that had no English subs. Loved 'em anyway. (Is that an indictment of the genre, when coherent dialogue proves essentially unnecessary?)
Unfortunately, it’s much easier to write a negative review than a positive one. I’ve often sat down to write a review about a movie I enjoyed and ended up turning out a negative review.
Take Tamara for instance… the acting is pretty bad, the dialogue is dire, the film is really confused about how we’re supposed to empathise with, it’s not scary, it’s not funny… by any objective measure it’s a stinker… but… I liked it… I dunno why. I can easily articulate what’s wrong with it, but I cannot explain why it worked for me.
I love movies, but sometimes thinking and writing about them can take the fun out of 'em.
I completely disagree with RC on "sometimes thinking and writing about them can take the fun out of 'em."
However, I'll totally cop to being too lazy to think of reasons to write up movies way too often, so I don't write enough, and too often the ones that just cry out to have something written about them are bad.
That, and the fact that I hate movies...
Love that trailer. And Reggie Bannister. Reggie Bannister!!!
I generally like most movies I watch. Happens that I choose movies that interest me most often, but I can usually find something decent in even the worst film that I see. Something so bad that it makes me smile or something just kinda cool in a sea of sucktitude.
I'm a glass half-full of whiskey kinda guy. Not for long mind you, but you get my drift.
Well, as it was put in "Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back", "The internet was created for people to bitch about movies and share pr0n."
I could do without that. But really, it seems like that too much. I go on about the Sommersverse, I get flamed, and that's counted THREE message boards I've left because people have nothing better to do than rag on what someone else likes.
But in some cases, if studios would get their heads out of their asses and fix the mistakes they made while realizing what they did right (Fox), realize some movies need good sequels (Universal) or need to rethink their marketing strategies (Miramax), we wouldn't have this problem.
Of course, if I was a Hollywood bigshot, I'd probably put an end to the "Saw" franchise. But that's just me.
Heh... almost made it all the way through the post, eh?
everyone knows movies are for losers. except Rumplestiltskin. it can stay. :)
Omigawd, PLEASE don't get me started thinking about Rumplestiltskin or the next thing you know, I'll be WATCHING it!! Clicking that link to my old post already put it back in my head...I need to go a few days without acknowledging it and it will go away.
I, for one, could really use a dose of "complete and total unbridled fucking retarded JOY." So, please do keep me posted...
I saw this trailer about a month or so ago and I'm stymied as to what it's about too, but it looks nice and gory. Anything with Reggie makes me happy. Maybe he'll bring along his 4-barreled shotgun. One can only hope.
When writing a review for my own site, I've gotta admit the jokes, the humor and the comedic timing come together when I'm bashing or ripping a bad horror movie.
I can be more clever when I'm atomic bombing a movie into oblivion.
I've done the same for good reviews but the creativity gets blah.
