a call to arms!

I got an email from my ol' pal Scott Weinberg regarding the fact that Time Warner Cable has dropped FEARnet from their lineup, meaning that TWC subscribers no longer have insta-access to various horror movies. Not cool, amIright? I am. Read this to get the skinny...then call 1-877-FEAR-247 and tell the jerks in charge that you won't stand for this malarkey!

On second thought, maybe you shouldn't call them jerks. I think it's fine to use "malarkey", though. Godspeed, TWC subscribers! This doesn't affect me as I use DISH Network and I don't have FEARnet to begin with; While I think my "If I can't have you, NO ONE WILL!!" attitude works great in relationships, I think everyone should have access to horror movies, even if the choices include Snoop Dogg's Hood of Horrors. Make your voices heard!

In the Hey, I Like This Poster Better Than The US Version, Although I Must Admit It's Ripping Off The Poster For A L'Interieur department, comes this Japanese poster for The Broken, one of the After Dark 8 Films to Die For, in stores now now now!

"Eww, dude, you're totally leaking on me"

Also, this week at AMC I wrote a piece about Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee, which you can, like, totally read. Huzzah, hooray, ahoy!

  1. Is FearNet any better than the Chiller Channel on DirectTV? Chiller plays a lot of the same crap over and over again, but I'm not sure I could live without it.

Broadband limiting, high prices, cutting channels... Time Warner sucks.

  2. Hey! watch it! "SNOOP DOGG'S HOOD OF HORROR" is actually waaaay better than I expected it to be. Certainly better than "TALES FROM THE HOOD", and light-years above & beyond Snoop's other "effort", "BONES".

  3. Yes, FearNet is better than Chiller. For one, FearNet isn't a basic cable network, so they don't show edited versions of their movies. For another, it's on demand, and they usually have a decent selection of stuff showing each month.

  4. FEARnet is good, but it's got some limitations, including the commercial break that each film usually includes, and the lack of widespread presentations. As far as I could see, it was full-frame only.

Chiller edits, but they also do widescreen. Plus, Chiller shows great TV from Freddy's Nightmares to the 1980s Twilight Zone to Twin Peaks.

If I had to choose between them, I'd probably keep Chiller, but it was still really annoying to learn last night that FEARnet was gone.

  5. Great stuff on Lee/Curshing - can I recommend the excellent Horror Express to you if you've not already seen it a hundred times??

  6. I strongly suspect it isn't your doing, but I have to point out that the title of your AMC post is basically the worst thing I've seen all day. Jesus wept.

  7. I agree. Bromance is a bad word.

  8. Alright. we've established that the title sucks. Without getting into the politics behind my columns (which I've done plenty of times in the past- probably more than I should have), can we move on?

  9. The Broken is as bad as all the After Dark horror movies. I never noticed that poster was blantantly ripping off Inside.

How much more lower can the After Dark people go?
