shape showdown!

Way over yonder by The Old Horror Blips Place, there's a Carpenter flavored Michael Myers vs Zombie flavored Michael Myers smackdown taking place. Well, I suppose it's not really a smackdown as much as it is a few horror bloggers weighing in with their opinions about which incarnation of the Shatner-faced boogeyman is the scariest. Click and read to find out what I think...and what, among others, B-Sol of The Vault of Horror and BC of Horror Movie a Day think. The results aren't terribly surprising, but still.

In related news, between "B-Sol", "BC", and "BJ-C" of Day of the Woman, I feel that "Stacie Ponder" simply isn't snazzy enough. Mayhaps "S-Po"? That kind of rolls off the tongue. Anyway, enough of my identity problems. Let's get on with...THE POLLENING.

Which Myers do YOU prefer? Yes, you.

Carpenter-flavored

Zombie-flavored

Cynthia-flavored

Your mom-flavored

Sorry, I've never actually seen a picture of your mom...I'm just making assumptions here.

  1. You shall here on out be referred to as S-Po... until I forget.

  2. Myers is summoning a little too much Nicolas Cage from "Knowing" in the Zombie-flavor for me, so I'll go with my mom.

  3. As a kid, I always wondered what the heck they meant by "The Shape."

    Actually, I still wonder that.

  4. I prefer my Michael Myers with a side of french fries and some cheese sauce. Isn't everything better with some cheese sauce?

Or just the plain 'ole original version. I'll go with that.

  5. Carpenter's Myers had the face of Shatner, frankly that scares the shit out of me.

S-Po turned into "Skip-Bo" in my head really fast. Might want to be careful of that. Unless you like being mistaken for 80's era card games.

  6. Why do I so badly want to say "P-So"? I guess, it can be your secret, encrypted code name!

  7. "Unless you like being mistaken for 80's era card games."

I do, actually. One of my many aliases is "Millie Bornes", which is obviously based on "Mille Bornes".

    Which isn't from the 80s, I know, but it's all I had. :(

  8. You have no idea how hard I was trying to come up with a "Mille Bornes" reference but I couldn't. Therefore you win this round S-Po.

...if it were a game of Mille Bornes however I would totally have won.

  9. Meh, I thought it was a totally pointless question to ask because invariably, we were are ALL going to pick the O.G. Michael anyways. But what do I know, I like Barry Manilow.

  10. Your new hip-hop alias is pronounced exactly like a city in Finland. Though the orthography makes it seem like it should sound like something else.

  11. This is the second blog I've read this week to mention Mille Bornes.

Having that Driving Ace card (As du volant) always was a key.

  12. S-Po, eh? Very nice, rolls off the tongue--I say go for it! It's all about the abbreviations these days--I don't know about you, but I lead a busy lifestyle. I just don't have the time to say my whole name.

  13. I'm so glad you know about BC and his stellar labor of love - Horror Movie A Day! My two favorite horror blogs! Why you WOULDN'T know about each other, I don't know. Just made me happy to see the mention on this site.
Someday maybe I'll have real friends! :)

  14. The hairstyle is a bit off, but otherwise, that does look like my mother, actually.

  15. I was going to vote for Carpenter, but that Cynthia lady was va-va-voom. I would not scream in terror if she were to burst through my closet.

I think my wife and I are officially the only two horror fans that enjoyed the new sequel. It was seeing Laurie Strode in a Government Issue shirt that brought things over the top for me. Gotta love the old DC Hardcore bands.

  16. I didn't make it to H2 this weekend, and though I've heard mostly negative things, you're not alone, Mike! CHUD gave it a "Well, I didn't HATE it" review, and Unkle Lancifer at Kindertrauma sheepishly admitted that he liked it.
