Is it just my stupid monitor or is the weird green from nosferatu seeping into this image?

I love the LOOK of The Ring. Always raining, always sort of blue...very evocative. Terrific movie.

Hey, if you do this for The Manipulator (http://finalgirl.blogspot.com/2009/03/manipu.html), there's a very good chance you'll get a capture of Mickey Rooney in full-face makeup, since your review notes that scene happens at the 22-minute mark. Then again, your review also notes that the DVD met an untimely demise. So perhaps we're out of luck.

I actually like the remake of RING.

I think it's beautifully shot and directed. But you can't beat the original for pure atmosphere and dread.

Shame Nakata also directed that pile of poo THE RING TWO.

The first Ring was excellent. It also led to my great disappointment with Ringu, which felt amazingly anti-climactic after the Ring. One of those movies that makes the case for remakes.

Rereading the review for this and your petrified, post-viewing hotel room experience was wonderful.

Same deal for me, though my reaction was more delayed. I started creeping myself out three days after seeing The Ring, and on the seventh day - this is embarrassing - but on the seventh day, I unplugged my bedroom tv set.

After Paranormal Activity, there was nothing to unplug, so I was pretty much in a constant state of nervous agitation, especially at bedtime.

I remember the original Amityville had the same creeping impact. Thank God we didn't have any rocking chairs in the house. And to this day, the sound of small children singing "Jesus Loves Me" immediately puts me in mind of invisible satanic pigs.
