Today I'm starting this ongoing feature wherein I post a screencap from 23:45 in random horror films. Who knows what kind of magic we'll find along the way?
There was some film blog out there that used to do something similar, but after A LOT of searching last night, I couldn't find it. If anyone knows what it is, let me know so I can link back with a "I'm aping this" annotation.
EDITED TO ADD: It's been pointed out to me that what I'm thinking of is the 20:07 series at the most excellent blog The Film Experience. 'Tis true...so there you go, I'm aping that.
Also, 23:45 is just a nice number- no significance otherwise. Let's see what happens.
Also also, I'll be posting them without text (save a link to my review, if I've written one)...I'll let the pictures speak for themselves and run my stupid mouth in the comments section, hooray!

Excellent idea! Wonder what'll pop up. By the way, Brunch with Bridget cracked me up...
Incredibly cool idea! I can't wait to see the wide variety of moods that will be captured.
Stacy, The Film Experience did a series in 2007 that grabbed the frame at 20:07 in every movie, maybe that's what you're thinking of? He might've continued it into 2008/20:08 too I think.
23:45 seems to be kinda early for a lot of the early slashers, they tended to have an early shock then lots of exposition, didn't they? I could be wrong, and I think it would be equally awesome if a lot of the stills are generic shots of people in offices blandly answering phones and filing paperwork in triplicate. Now *that* would be weird and eerie.

word verification du jour: vologi, as in "Count Vologi's Horror Chamber of Dooooom!!! (mwahahahaha)""
Jason, that's totally it- THANKS! In my hazy memories, it was a separate blog unto itself.
You're probably right, Rik, but I figured I'd go with a catchy number. We shall see what happens- it's a world of excitement...or banality. Who knows?
I hope it's a world of banality! When else would a post be dedicated to shots of people sitting in offices in slasher films? These moments must be celebrated too, I says!
I'm queueing up a bunch of posts right now and you'd be surprised. There's a good variety of before- during- after action...although sometimes I wish a shot would linger for just a second or two longer so I could use it.
There's also random scenery, characters you don't remember, and even the occasional blur. I like the ones that invoke "Ooh, I know what's coming next!" or it's a moment of serenity before the shit hits the fan.
