Hokay, Estácia, pretty easy crop this round. My burnt-out brain thanks you. (Verification: phathoo. From Horton Hears A Hoo Bust Mad Rhymez, Yo.)
Short answer: they all say “The Exorcist” except for the Turkish one. (We’ll get to that.) The Japanese is a transliteration: “Ekusoshisuto.” The one I think is Urdu is too, “Igzorsist," I think.
The Scandinavian one (it’s either Norwegian or Swedish) says “The Phenomenon: The Exorcist.”
The only one that’s different is the Turkish one. Şeytan means Satan or The Devil. It goes on to say, “Won two Oscars” (İki Oskar ödülü alan), The Exorciste.
Yes, it appears some of these posters seem to think the one thing The Exorcist lacked was snakes, terrifying, shit in your pants snakes.
By the way, does anybody know of a Carrie rip off from way back which involved snakes? Damned if i can find it, but I definitely saw it many moons ago and it haunts me to this day! There was a giant snake at the end I think...
Also I got to see Paranormal Activity this weekend, and was so pleased to see everything which spooked the bejeebus out of me about the first half of the exorcist condensed into a movie of it's own. Certainly didn't sleep well that night.
Wow! not only do you solve one of my all time Horror movie queries, but there's also a review which i had as yet not read (obviously)! Double bonus!
I don't suppose you know of a movie where a man gives handguns to his young friends, two men and a lady, and lady then accidentally shoots one of the men in the eye and kills him. For reasons best known the others decide to turn the body into a statue to cover things up. But wouldn't you know it the statue returns to life to torment the lady and drive her mad, as only she sees it moving. In the end it all turns out to be a gag the 'friends' are playing on the lady but in TV movie style twist she shoots the statue man for real. Or at least that's what i remember happening. I was 5 and it was one of those instances when my Mam let me stay up because I couldn't sleep. On another such occasion, which illustrates how badly my memory recalls things, I was allowed to watch Hart to Hart but found it too extreme when a mans severed head was served up on a platter! Those Harts!

The extra “e” is for extra exorcism.
That Exorcist poster with the snake is absolutely gorgeous.
