  2. The posters actually make me want to watch it again. It's pretty terrific- especially that weird beach scene!

  3. I think you said it (right?)----weirdest character introduction EVER!

And truly... Susan is so beautiful, and I actually think the film is really smart and trying to be about something interesting. And its a pretty fascinating reimagining of Carmilla, which--b-t-dubbs-is eight million times better than Dracula and was published 25 years earlier.

I am full of ANDs today.

  4. Great post, exactly what I needed after a week of losing faith in humanity at "the office". I love daughters of darkness, by the way, just thinking about it makes a daytrip to Ostend sooo much better. I wish there were more Belgian movies like that, or at least set in Belgium, but that's a lot to ask of course, it would be an incredibly niche genre :D

  5. Wow, those are great! Although when I first saw the Draculas Hexenjagd poster I thought it was The Little Mermaid turned vampire!

  6. The French "Twins of Evil" poster is awesome. Love the use of the snake and dove imagery to subtly contrast the good and evil sisters.

The nudie poster for "Daughters of Darkness", on the other hand, couldn't be more blunt. The German title "Blood on the Lips" used here, even helpfully lines up the word Lippen with the girl's actual...well, you get the idea.

  7. Lust for a Vampire was pretty much the first horror movie I ever saw as a kid! Ah, those Sunday afternoons of syndicated television...

  8. I love the international "Hunger" posters...Deneuve was and remains one of the great classic beauties of cinema. Even to this day she is pretty much striking.

  9. "Draculas Hexenjagd" looks like a poster from a Disney film gone very, very bad. (Or very right, depending on your viewpoint.)
