A call to arms!

So I'm sitting here having the darndest time- THE DARNDEST TIME I SAY- deciding what the next Film Club selection should be. The last couple of weeks have been largely movie-free for me, and now I don't know what I feel like. Supernatural? Classic? Slasher? Something I've seen already? Italian? I just can't figure out my feels.

Help me out! List some suggestions in the comments and we'll see what shakes out. While I can research and find out how readily available a movie might be, I do implore you: consult my reviews list before naming a film to see if I've already written about it.

Here is a picture of the late Macdonald Carey of television's Days of Our Lives to reward you in advance for your efforts.

  1. Eyes Without a Face! I've been wanting to write about it for a long time now. So sad, so creepy, so strongly feminist (imho). Plus it has Alida Valli in it. AKA (apropos of almost nothing) The Horror Chamber of Dr. Faustus.

  2. How about going back to your Shocktober posts and picking the highest one on the list that you have haven't seen yet?

  3. THE SEVENTH VICTIM

    Or

    FOUR FLIES ON GREY VELVET

  4. I notice you haven't reviewed any of the Child's Play movies, several of which are on Netflix Instant. And there's always Sleepaway Camp. Or if you want something higher quality that's not necessarily a horror movie, Oldboy.

  5. I think it is time you finally shared your feelings about Martyrs with the world. Plus, it would give me a great opportunity to rewatch it. :)

  6. Oh my gaaaaahhhd you guys all have great suggestions. Which, to be honest, isn't helping me narrow it down any! :D

  7. Duel

I discuss it (and Insidious) here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SwbbdTQEVwg&feature=c4-overview&list=UUWfXClVyfnWWCVHVGzWFN-Q

Am I a jerk for posting a link to my own stuff. I've never done it before.

  8. When all you're doing is linking to your own content that has absolutely nothing to do with the original post...it's pretty jerky. :)

  9. Crap! I've never thought of myself as a jerk before. I guess it's time to face facts.

But wait! I have a defense. I'm suggesting you review Duel. The link has me talking about why I like Duel in the hopes it will influence you to cover it.

    Am I still a jerk?

  10. Ah! This is acceptable. I didn't get that drift in your original comment. Once again a jerky-free zone!

  11. Lords of Salem, because I know you're dying to hate another Rob Zombie flick.

  12. I've said it before, and I'll say it again, The House that Screamed (aka Finishing School). You can watch it here:

  13. "The Killer Must Kill Again" is great little giallo in the vein of "The Black Belly of the Tarantula."

  14. Oh, definitely Entrance (2012). A really eerie mumblecore horror in the style of Ti West that totally blew me away with its ending.

  15. There's The House That Dripped Blood, a fun Amicus anthology horror.

  16. [REC]3. I like it, but many don't seem to.

    You're Next?

  17. I don't have any titles to suggest I just wanted to thank you for the MacDonald Carey picture. Love me some Tom Horton.

  18. Here's 10 I watched this past Shocktober in no particular order.

We Are What We Are (Mexico, 2010)
    The Loved Ones (Australia, 2009)
    Amer (France, 2009)
    Jug Face (US, 2013)
    Habit (US, 1995)
    Calvaire (Belgium, 2005)
    Wake in Fright (Australia, 1971)
    The Night Flyer (US, 1997)
    Terror Tract (US, 2000)
The Lords of Salem (US, 2012)
(Seriously, Lords of Salem is the best thing Rob Zombie has done...faint praise but still)

  19. You've never reviewed GRAVEYARD SHIFT (1990), the best of the Stephen King adaptations? For shame. I am planning on writing about it on my blog and I would enjoy being a participant of your film club.

  20. I've heard LORDS OF SALEM isn't that bad, mostly. Hmm. I'm willing to give it a shot!

  21. Invasion of the Bee Girls!

    Because SEX...

    Also... Why not?

    Anitra Ford!

She is gorgeous especially with black, insect eyes...

  22. C.H.U.D. or Piranha (light fun picks), or American Mary or Absentia (serious biz).

  23. I want to thank Will for alerting me to Entrance here in these comments - I hadn't heard anything about it before, so I just watched it totally dry, not knowing anything, and it creeped me the fuck out. Suuuuper slow burn but if you're really paying attention it's crazy tense.

  24. I'd go with either American Mary or Argento's Deep Red, neither of which I found on your previously reviewed list. They're both loopy gems, in my humble opinion.

  25. I saw ENTRANCE a couple of years ago and I haaaaaaated it! BUT. I was watching it with someone who really hates everything and enjoys MST3King movies, so I bet that had A LOT to do with it.
