I sure am, although who knows when I'll be able to see it. But I'm not reading any reviews or anything before that magical time because I want me and my excitement to remain unsullied. For those of you who live in cities where this will definitely hit theaters, Goodnight Mommy opens September 11. Finally a reason to remember that date!

oh yes...so delightfully creepy!
Noice.
Man, that looks creepy as a mo-fo.
This movie already played in my country and somehow I missed it. Damn.
I was perusing IMDb (Clu Galager to be exact) and came across a movie called Uninvited which had this little synopsis: A mutated killer cat finds its way on-board a yacht. It also co-stars George Kennedy. How awesome does that sound?! Have you seen it? If not, my September wish is for you to review it.
Oh, and yes I am too looking forward to Goodnight Mommy.
I have seen it! I wrote a mini-review of it for Rue Morgue a couple of years ago, actually ("mini" because it was a double feature DVD). Perhaps unsurprisingly, it's not as good as you want it to be. It does have its moments...it's sort of a regular cat with a radioactive cat inside it, like a Russian nesting doll. The size keeps changing, which is pretty hilarious. Overall if I had to rate it, I'd give it 2.5 stars: one star for the premise alone, one for my beloved George Kennedy, and half for execution.
The directors of GOODNIGHT MOMMY said that nobody in their home country gave a damn about this movie until the trailer went viral and people around the world were interested in seeing it.
That's exactly how it is here in Australia. We put out quite a bit of quality genre films that rarely get any kind of publicity or release. But if it gets into Sundance and/or picked up by a US distributor people suddenly get interested.
It's sad but the money just isn't there.
I just saw this last night. I was a little disappointed. I could see the "twist" ending almost from the beginning. The cinematography was nice, though. And the boys who play the twins were really good.
