The first is lovely in how it takes the "ordinary" sins/lusts of the real world and says "you want to sin? Here's what sin is!" The second starts crazy, and then ramps it up to batshit insane- all without losing the humanity of the characters (well, the human ones).
It's a sequel that stays true to the original, but says "fine, you bought all that? Then let's run with it to its logical(?)conclusion." As opposed to changing the rules, or telling a story that's just a re-tread, or one that really has nothing to do with the original.
The pillar coming out of the bed is the worst CGI effect ever, and the close-up of the pillar is the worst practical effect ever. Kudos, Hellraiser II!
Nope, not Hellraiser!
ReplyDeleteI don't know, but I want to watch it!
ReplyDeleteI would like to give a shout out to all actors who have ever let a bug be put on their face/on their body/in the same room with them.
ReplyDeleteHellbound: Hellraiser 2, right?
ReplyDeleteYes indeed, Hellraiser 2.
ReplyDelete(I would have told you how close you were, Horrorist, but I didn't want to give it away!)
Criminally under-rated movie.
ReplyDeleteHear, hear! I prefer it to the first film, even.

Hellbound: Hellraiser 2
ReplyDelete"What is your pleasure, Sir?"
I was doubting if it was the first or second. But, man I love both of these movies.
