Dudes and y'alls, when I went and scheduled this here VHS Week I forgot that I have a thing.
It is the sort of thing that will have me away from the sweet warm embrace of my VCR for a few days, so I apologize I'm afraid we must press pause on the proceedings. VHS Week will resume on MONDAY. I know it will be a difficult time for all of us, but let's just think of this as an intermission. Stretch your legs, go buy a rectangle of pizza and some Sno Caps, and meet me back here and we'll finish this shit together. The lineup for the week will be:
Mon 5/16 - DIE! DIE! MY DARLING! (1965, Silvio Narizzano)
Tues 5/17 - THE HAUNTING OF JULIA (1977, Richard Loncraine)
Wed 5/18 - THE NIGHT EVELYN CAME OUT OF THE GRAVE (1971, Emilio Miraglia)
Thur 5/19 - THE ATTIC (1980, George Edwards & Gary Graver)
Fri 5/20 - MARTIN (1977, George A. Romero)
Who knows, maybe I'll throw in some other surprises. Or not. I guess we'll just have to wait and see!
By the way, The Thing? I have been to see it, I know what it is! It's in Arizona somewhere...it's a mummified mother and child, eww! But I guess it's a fake. It's in a glass (or plexiglass or whatever) coffin thing in a pre-fab building, and when I saw it the top of the glass was all covered in bird poop. They also had a car that Hitler supposedly rode in once. EERIE!

Note to self....write script about a killer car that is possessed by the ghost of Hitler...
I. LOVE. THE. ATTIC. Carrie Snodgress is heartbreaking. You should se The Housekeeper with Rita Tushingham.
VHS week has been a blast--can't wait for it to resume!
Living in Tucson for the past few years, I've seen that sign for The Thing many many times and always wondered, well, what it is. Now that I know, I'm actually more likely to check it out!
I just watched The Attic for the first time myself because I love C. Snodgress-and yup- sad as Hell! Wait till you hear that overblown treacly soundtrack though Staci, sheesh! Also-uh, chimp alert! -lock up your faces...
@breedaniels: I always wanted to see The Housekeeper with Tushingham, but it's another one that's hard to find. Where did you view it? In the same vein you should see the Brit film: Sister, My Sister with Joely Richardson & Johdi May. It's gripping! Also the modern French vers based on the same true story by Chabrol called: The Ceremony with the great Isabelle Huppert
@ highway knees I bought a copy at a rental store that was selling their VHS inventory. I loved Sister, My Sister. There have been a coulpe of versions of that story, but I think Sister, My Sister is the most unsettling. There was also a French version of The Housekeeper made called La Ceremonie directed by Claude Chabrol.
@highway knees it is obviously time for me to go to bed since I just recommended you a movie that you just recommended to me............. I have always liked movies about spinsters (I don't know what says about me)Although, it is not horror, Rachel, Rachel with Joanne Woodward is a great film with some truly unsettling images.
