Hello! You know, I think we are all super pumped about Spooky Season this year, right? Perhaps you see it as a reprieve from bad times and strife, or a balm against bad times and strife that may yet come...or maybe you are just ready to fuck up some candy corns! Whatever the reason, it sorta feels like we are all ready already. Thanks to those of you who have already sent in your lists of favorite horror movies--there is plenty of time left for anyone still ruminating (as I am). I can't wait to celebrate SHOCKtober, it's shaping up to be a great month even now.

(If you're sitting there thinking "favorite what?" or "list who?" you can read all the what whats and who whos right here!)

Now then! I'm also here to clue you in to the fact that to my very own delight I recently guested on the podcast The Monday Afternoon Movie, hosted by Sam Pancake. Sam and his guests jibber jabber about made for TV movies from the 70s and 80s, so you can probably guess how excited I was to be on the show. We discussed the absolutely insane 1976 flick Look What's Happened to Rosemary's Baby, a movie that probably shouldn't exist but man, I'm so glad it does! It's a mess and a half, but it features Tina Louise as the owner of a "Castle Casino" so you know I love it.

You can listen to our episode right here or wherever you get your podcasts. Curse the day you don't check it out. This episode is the shocker you've been waiting for since the day you were born! Maybe. Just look at that cast.

Aw dang, now I've got to hunt this one down and see it before I listen to the episode. I'm sure I've seen it before, but it's left my brain and I remember NOTHING. Tina Louise, you say? I can't wait to (re) watch it!

Psst -- any info on where you got the good DVD bootleg? I've only ever seen a terrrrrrrible VHS transfer and would love to re-watch being able to, you know, see what is happening

I just found it on eBay, there were a few listed! Looks like my seller was PopMarket

I found a fairly decent upload on YouTube. I'm only 30 mins in and this is a mess!

The good (???) news is, it will only get messier!

Well. That was something. Thanks (I think?) for the recommendation, it was not at all what I was expecting. The sheer amount of haunted vehicles (one with a haunted bird?) was surprising. And who knew the Castle Casino would end up being such a hub for satanic activity? Honestly, the title should have been Rosemary's Baby: All of Them Homos, because my gaydar was pinging on Adrian, his blonde best buddy, Hollywood Guy Woodhouse, Roman...the list goes on. Seriously, that was a fun watch!

Oh yeah, we talked about all the gay on the podcast, it's very homo. This is definitely one of those movies that's more enjoyable in remembrance, my brain conveniently leaves out all the slog and gives me the highlights

Stacie, I just finished the season one recap for the TWIN PEAKS podcast and I'm loving it. I was caught in that show's web when it aired. I was in eighth grade.

I cannot wait to hear your thoughts on FIRE WALK WITH ME and THE RETURN. The latter, especially, should be a VERY interesting listen, since I am still wresting with my feelings for it.

Also, Mike mentioned the Jennifer Lynch book of THE SECRET DIARY OF LAURA PALMER, but there was another one released at the same time called THE AUTOBIOGRAPHY OF FBI AGENT DALE COOPER. And that one was REALLY messed up. It went a long way to setting up a certain new character in season two who has great significance in Coop's life.

ooOOOOooooo! I'm gonna have to give that a peep as well...and I need to get on the Secret Diary! I'm very curious about The Return. I think Mike is on record as a fan, though I know it was divisive. I only wish we'd done this show before it was announced--I envy what must have been a great surprise for longtime fans.

Thanks for listening! I'm digging TP so much. It's better than I ever expected!

I am of an age that when I see the words "ABC FRIDAY NIGHT MOVIE" I can very very clearly hear the tagline and movie title uttered that announcer's voice.

YES! Both books are fantastic and add a lot to Twin Peaks lore. The double punch of FWWM and Secret Diary left me reeling back in the day!
