FINAL GIRL explores the slasher flicks of the '70s and '80s...and all the other horror movies I feel like talking about, too. This is life on the EDGE, so beware yon spoilers!

we have a winner

The people have spoken, people, and it seems that the people want Tobe Hooper's Lifeforce to be the next Film Club choice. So say we all, or at least 27% of you.

Personally, I was kinda hoping that Food of the Gods would pull out a come-from-behind victory at the last minute, but alas, it seems that naked space alien vampire zombie boobies win out over Ida Lupino battling giant maggots. I was bummed for a second about that, then I remembered that I can watch Food of the Gods and review it any time I damn well please and I wasn't bummed anymore. I can't be boxed in!

So. Lifeforce. Due Monday, June 23. If there are any newbies out there joining in the fun, here's how it works: post your review or Lifeforce-related something something on 6/23. Be sure to mention Final Girl or the Film Club in there somewhere, and send me a link to your site. I'll post your link along with my review, and we weill all be joined together in a big cyber caring circle. Huzzah!

The film: Lifeforce
The due date: Monday, June 23

Good choice. Lifeforce is one of my all-time guilty pleasures, a big-budget throwback to the Quatermass films that makes absolutely no sense, but is so gosh-darn crazy I can't help but love every second of it.

AND it's available for "Watch Now" instant viewing on Netflix! Woot!

Yay for 'Watch Now'! Netflix screwed me out of Devil's Daughter last time. Probably because several other readers of this blog had requested it at the same time. :P

Netflix is sending me a copy, I feel slightly guilty, because I could have used the "Watch Now" feature, but I'd rather watch if on my couch. I promise to get it back to Netflix quickly.

Of course, you being the boss, you could say "Screw it. Food of the Gods it is!" I'm just sayin'...

Yeah... I am feeling what Theron is saying.

"The people"... pffft! Stacie, you hold executive power in this here place. VETO the LIFEFORCE!

J/K... I'm rolling with the punches and look forward to watching this movie about a giant eyeball.

I WANTED FOOD OF THE GODS.
Not that Iusually participate in Film Club, but I love reading the reviews. Stacie, I eagerly await your Food Of The Gods review, should you ever write one.

Looking forward to Lifeforce!

I think. Is that the one where a short-shorts-clad Steve Guttenberg catches a mermaid and forces her to grant wishes to a bunch of doddering oldsters?

And then, at the end, everyone's young and they all dance in the forest singing "Yub Nub"?

I hope that's the one...

Anyone else disappointed the titular winner wasn't the Name That Name winner? Oh, AMC, you cruel overlord, how you torture us Ponderites!

Looking forward to this, my first-ever FG Film Club entry!

Food of the Gods next time then? I think this is the inevitable risk - all the films up for voting were fun... I would have gladly watched Schizo again, I reviewed that for a fanzine in the UK about fifteen years ago... but everyone will have their favourites AFTER the votes have been counted. Lifeforce is hilarious, weird, scary, fucked up and insane... but you could describe Food of the Gods like that, too. Oh well - next time, I suppose. In the meantime, everyone who wishes it were Food could they watch it too? And enjoy Lifeforce as well??

Well, guess I have an excuse to rewrite my Lifeforce review. Netflix sent this to me today, but I live in NorthWest Indiana, so I doubt it's gonna affect anyone much.

Look forward to joining this film club!

Sadly, I have not this Netflix of which you speak. I shall have to hunt this monster down...alone. With a stick I sharpened on my own teeth.

In the poll, you forgot to mention "Muppet Magazine". That had the most influence on me, I think...

I voted for FOOD OF THE GODS, but I like LIFEFORCE as well... win-win either way!

Have that LIFEFORCE review ready... in conjunction with the review of the LIFEFORCE for the Millennium decade.

Wouldn't mind seeing FotG get some kind of consolation prize, but God, Lifeforce RULES. I can't wait to see this group take it on.

And yet. Those animals sure were giant, weren't they?

Isn't june 23rd too far in advance? I've never seen lifeforce, but i'll have to find a version on the web if i can...
Are we getting graded on these reiews?

I mean, you ARE Final Girl...and you DO have the FINAL say...I'm just sayin'...

Such reckless displays of power are not my bag! I knew going in to the vote that I'd have to stick with the results...I mean, I want to watch ALL the films. FotG is simply the one I wanted to watch the most.

And watch it I shall! And review it I must! Wheeee!

Okay, Yoda Girl, settle down...

Lifeforce is awesome. that naked vampire babe? Jeez. I think I would be vamped by that any day of the week.

Food of the Gods is so totally awesome. I need to watch it again right now. The ending gets me every time. I love the 70's "Mom Nature gives ya a smack upside the head movies".

I knew nothing about "Lifeforce" before this, and now I'm pretty excited 'cuz I just got it in the mail from Netflix. This'll be my first Film Club entry, so I hope I don't muck it up.
